Feldkirchen/Graz, 24.02.2022: The mood in the travel and aviation sector is increasingly optimistic, with the relaxation of many travel restrictions also now resulting in the resumption of scheduled flights to Düsseldorf and Stuttgart next Monday, 28.02.2022.
Wolfgang Malik, Chairman of the Board of Holding Graz, commented: “Tourism and the economy in Styria, throughout southern Austria and in North Slovenia benefit equally from the worldwide connections via the hubs served from Graz as well as the attractive direct connections. The Styrian export economy represents more than 8,000 exporting companies; the volume of goods exported totals EUR 26 bn and the growth rates are far higher than the rest of Austria. The direct link to Stuttgart and Düsseldorf is an important economic connection, which we have maintained with small business jets in the absence of scheduled services. I am all the more delighted that these connections are now regularly available to our customers again.”

Many important partner companies for the export-oriented Styrian industry and economy are based in the economic centres of Stuttgart and Düsseldorf. In addition, the direct flights for holiday guests from the two German federal states offer an attractive option for travelling to Graz and into the green heart of Austria,” said Wolfgang Grimus, Managing Director of Graz Airport.
“Eurowings is getting ready for a summer with huge catch-up effects. Following a distinct upturn in tourist flight bookings – with several tens of thousands every day – the demand for business routes is also increasingly gaining momentum. After two years of the pandemic and months of working from home, the desire for freedom is becoming ever stronger in both the private and the professional context. Against the background of rising demand, we are very pleased to be resuming the relevant connections Düsseldorf-Graz and Stuttgart-Graz on 28 February 2022, with three and five flights a week respectively,” explained Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof.
Initially there will be flights to Düsseldorf 3 times a week and to Stuttgart 5 times a week; the summer flight schedule which starts at the end of March provides for a gradual increase to 11 flights a week to both cities, using Airbus 319 and Airbus 220-300 aircraft.
