British Airways subsidiary BA Euroflyer now flies to London Gatwick three times a week.
Feldkirchen bei Graz, 21.11.2025: Happening today at 16:10: the first BA Euroflyer aircraft from London will be landing in Graz. The British Airways subsidiary, which owns more than 20 aircraft, offers around 45 short- and medium-haul routes from London Gatwick. The latest additions are Rabat in Morocco, and from today also Graz. The flights between Graz and London take off every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Around 70 guests from the politics, business, industry and tourism sectors came to Graz Airport today to welcome the initial flight.
Karen Hilton, Managing Director of BA Euroflyer: “We are delighted that today our first flight from London Gatwick has landed in Graz. As the only direct connection between the two cities, we are proud to offer our customers more choice – no matter whether they are travelling for business, privately or to visit friends.”
Wolfgang Grimus, Managing Director of Graz Airport: “This is a great day for Graz Airport and its airline passengers! The London link is a big win for all passenger segments: naturally this includes tourists and business travellers from both sides, but also the VFR segment (Visiting Friends and Relatives), for whom their long-awaited reunions will now be so much simpler.”
Lindsay Skoll, British Ambassador to Austria: “Scarcely anything can strengthen the already outstanding bilateral relations between Austria and the United Kingdom better than direct flight connections. From business and science to culture and tourism, a great many people will benefit from this new option for a simple way of travelling between Graz and London, because the historic connection between our two countries is especially pronounced in southern Austria. We look back on a long history of friendship, and are delighted to be adding a new chapter now thanks to BA Euroflyer and Graz Airport.”
Mayor Elke Kahr: “The direct connection to London will open up a lot of new options for passengers from Graz and the surrounding regions. I am delighted that with BA Euroflyer a further gateway is opening, and naturally I hope guests from Great Britain will seize the opportunity to discover our city for themselves.”
State Government member Stefan Hermann: “The commencement of the flight link between Graz and London represents an important step towards an even better connection between our federal capital and the major European cities. For the economic location and the numerous leading businesses in Styria, the regular connection is a major plus point. As well as the benefit for tourism, it will also contribute to sustainably strengthening the Green Mark and its companies. In this context I would like to thank all the managers at Graz Airport who work continuously to expand the routes offered.”
Deputy State Governor Manuela Khom underlines the importance of this flight connection for the regional business location: “Styria earns one in every two euros from abroad, making it highly dependent on international exchanges and cross-border trade. So I am very pleased that in future we will have a regular flight link from Graz to the economic and finance centre London. This will not only substantially strengthen the Airport, but also send an important signal to business, trade and tourism in Styria. I will be delighted to welcome guests from Great Britain at Graz Airport soon!”
City Councillor with responsibility for the economy and tourism, Kurt Hohensinner: “The new direct link from London to Graz is an important step towards networking our city internationally. It strengthens Graz as an economic location through the improved global accessibility, while at the same time opening up new prospects for tourism and our regional economy. With this link we are positioning Graz as the gateway between south-east Europe and one of the most important cities in the world, thus creating a strong connection for investments, strategic partnerships and international exchanges. The municipal government is continuously called on to establish flight connections in Graz that are of relevance to industry and business, so as to strengthen the competitiveness of our economic location.”
Sylvia Loidolt, Chair and Susanne Haubenhofer, Managing Director of the Graz region tourism association (Tourismusverband Region Graz): “The first flight of the direct connection London Gatwick–Graz is an important step in further opening up Great Britain as a market for tourism in the greater Graz region. Together with the Styrian tourism association (Steiermark Tourismus), we are creating targeted campaigns and marketing measures to position both the discovery region Graz and Styria as an attractive destination for British guests. We are confident that this step will attract many new visitors from Great Britain, and look forward to the promising prospects and possibilities in the coming months.”
Wolfgang Malik as representative of the owners of Graz Airport emphasises that “we have long pursued a direct scheduled connection between Graz, as one of Austria’s most important regional airports, and the metropolis of London, so this is an important step in the 20th anniversary year of the airport being acquired by the Holding Graz Group. The route to London with British Airways will strengthen the location quality of Graz Airport for the Styrian economy, and will enable mutually attractive tourism offers. With the Koralm Railway and the increased closeness between Carinthia and Styria, not only is the catchment area of Graz Airport being expanded, but via this new connection to the United Kingdom the provincial capital Graz will also prove to be a dynamic hub in a Southern Austria Area .”
